Goldie Walt Walt, Goldie -
Formerly Gardner Age 98 of St. Paul & Virginia, MN Died peacefully on
December 31, 2004 at Sholom Home East in her sleep. Preceded in death by
husbands, Albert Gardner and Ben Walt of Virginia, MN; son, Marvin Allen
Gardner; brothers, Harry, Max, Sully and Mickey Kaminsky; sister, Vivian
Goldman of California and step sister Trudy Arenson. Survived by brother,
Sherman (Beverly) Kaminsky; sister, Arleyne (John) Zima; daughter, Esther
Schwebach (Claire Walek); son, Arnold (Frances) Gardner; 7 grandchildren and
their spouses; 11 great grandchildren; 5 great-great grandchildren; 30 nieces
& nephews and all other relatives and friends. 'Ma Ma' Goldie was quite a
'live wire' lady. As a young lady she sang and danced with her father Hyman
to entertain family & friends. After marrying and having 3 children she
became involved with a local group of actors who performed plays on the
Jewish Theater Stage Co. She was a lovely actress, who sang and danced
beautifully. Some of these plays were produced & directed by New York
Composer. She was a member of the Pioneer Women's Club and belonged to a
group of neighborhood ladies who played Gin and other table card games,
rotating homes for over 30 years. Goldie was also Volunteer at Sholom Home
East and with her father and violinist Joe Rosenberg entertained the
residents many times. Her 2nd marriage to Ben Walt of Virginia, MN took her
away for 15 years. When Ben died she returned to St. Paul and very soon after
she was again volunteering at Sholom Home as she said 'helping the old
folks.' At the age of 86 she finally became one of them in 1992. She spent
the last 12 years living a comfortable & peaceful time. For that our
family has to thank the staffs of all the departments in all the fields of
care. The nurses on J-2 were very caring & loving people. They showed
much compassion and loving care for our mother, grandmother, great
grandmother, and friends to everyone. We will all miss her very much. Funeral
services 11AM SUNDAY at HODROFF-EPSTEIN MEMORIAL CHAPEL; 671 S. Snelling Ave.
St. Paul. In lieu of flowers, donations preferred to Sholom Home East or
donor's favorite charity. SHIVA Sholom Home East 1554 Midway Pkwy. St. Paul.
